College Room Crests

College Seals

When noted architect Temple Hoyne Buell designed the College Room in 1923, he was

Example of a windowinspired by his Chicago upbringing and education to envision a magnificent Edwardian grand ball room that would compete with the greatest rooms in The Windy City.

An important concept of the College Room design was to feature distinctive lighting and colors through what has evolved over time to be the largest collection of stained glass in a single structure “west of the Mississippi”.

One hundred and thirteen College Crests, representing the Universities of Members grace the College Room, making it a unique venue unmatched in glass and color scale.   It is a living experience as crests are added annually through generous Member donations.
